Millie: I brought these over for you
… She hands me 4 Coca-Cola glasses, made of glass, shaped like Coca-Cola bottles … I own several dozen drinking glasses; tall glasses, short glasses … glasses made of plastic, glasses made of glass. I need to thin them out and donate some to the thrift store. I know Millie only likes to drink out of glass-made glasses so I figure she must want to drink out of these glasses and doesn’t like any of my own. … so I made room in my cupboard…
… Three days later she’s at our house and asks for something to drink … “A-ha!” I think to myself … “I will serve her juice in one of those Coke glasses” … I bring her juice to her and hand it to her …. not one minute later she waves me over to her to take the glass from her … I am perplexed, she asks me for her juice to be in a different glass … I have to ask her why …
Millie: Those glasses are too heavy for me to hold
Me: I thought you brought these Coke glasses over because you wanted to drink out of them ..
Millie: oh no … I brought those for *you* to use … I need to drink out of the other glasses you have.
… I walk away to fill a different glass with juice for her while mumbling nonsense to myself
