Fargo people … they told me I was 2 months behind in my payment and they want $600 and something else don’t they?

Husby: I don’t know Mom, I didn’t talk to them.

Millie: well, I don’t know either! why didn’t you talk to them? …

Husby: it’s not my car … and I wasn’t there when they called you

Millie: well I’m just gonna have to send them my Humana Food… it’s the only thing I know to do to satisfy them with what they want .. and then they’ll say “No, we don’t want your food” and I’ll say, “You do too! Because you’re taking every penny I’ve got for this car … you’re taking the money out of my hands  and the food out of my mouth”

Millie: Dillie this is Millie … today is your husband’s birthday … I just wondered if you and Junior would like to go out to eat with me … I’ll pay for your lunch … it would have to be at Cheddars … they have this lunch special of salad or potato soup for $5 … anyways  .. of course Junior can get whatever he wants … it’s almost 11am so let me know if you want to go .. I’ll wait to hear from you … anyway, uhhh … I guess that’s all .. I’m finished, bye!

Millie: I’ll just stay overnight with  y’all … I just have the one radiator heater on right now at my house and it’s probably real cold so I’d just as soon stay all night with y’all … you know from now on what I can do is when I spend the night is bring over my little heater …

Me: How big is it? ..

Millie: it’s about, uh …. it’s about like this <makes a box shape with her arms>… and it’s on 4 wheels and you can pull it around like this <demonstrates a pulling movement behind her> …. it was delivered by Enterprise because FedEx didn’t have enough trucks … I wondered if it was the only thing in that truck because it was such a tiny thing in that truck but I suppose he had a bunch of things to deliver … but you do have to read the directions before you can try to put it into operation … you have to think of what you’re gonna do … why you have it turned on … do you want to warm the room or do you want to cool the room? or whatever … I do know this, I wished I’d had this a long time ago. I mean I like propane better than anything but this is a good thing to have when you don’t have anything.

Millie: I don’t care about where I live or what I live in…

Me: you don’t care what you live in?

Millie: no! I don’t care a thing about beautiful homes and all that …

Me: Well, I think you should care about where you live …

Millie: Why? Why should I care when I don’t care? ….

Me: Don’t you care if it’s clean or dirty?

Millie: … I want it to be clean right now …

Me: but you didn’t care about where you live …

Millie: well, I don’t .. I just want to get it clean, that’s my thing … I wanna have my two houses and my car .. because

this is what I prayed for .. and I think it’s awfully good of God to let me do this especially without a job … I wish I could get everything paid off though .. I’ve been asking God to show me how to do this and get it paid off … see, I wanted to have my Social Security in my old age and a rental house to help compensate for expenses in my old age .. and then the bottom crashed out in America .. but at least I learned how to modify, thanks to your Husby … I learned how to get the unemployment on the phone through you, Dillie, and learned how to modify through your Husby. My smart babies .. all three of them… and my other son is smart too, but they’re all like their dad… I never know if they’re telling the truth or not … I want them to get honest… God! help them to start becoming so honest, in Jesus’ name …

Millie: I wish that County Commissioner man would call me. I gave him my number … he asked for it. There’s a sharp man … Ooooh sharp man! That’s the only man I’ve met in a while that I wouldn’t mind keeping company with …

Me: Who is this?

Millie: He’s the former County Commissioner of my town … and he’s just real sharp. I like it when those guys can talk all over the board… you know?

Me: All over the board?

Millie: yeah, he can talk about more than one thing

Me: Why do you think they’re calling it Smashville?

Millie: I don’t know … they’re having a ball in Smashville? I don’t know … hey Junior,  you’re gonna have to tell everybody you live in Smashville … “I live in Smashville, Tennessee!”

Millie: Boy I know this area well .. it’s where I met everybody that’s coming from Chattanooga or coming from Nashville on every little thing that came up …

Me: who did you meet? ..

Millie: your Husby? … and I don’t know who else …

Me: why did you meet them here …

Millie: I don’t know. I met some friends and we met over there and ate… And I think my daughter had to come up here once and I met her … and I met Steve’s family… and then we opened a Prophetic Tattoo parlor …

Me: what is a Prophetic Tattoo Parlor?

Millie: it means that this guy … you tell him your favorite Bible verse or whatever, that means a lot to you and he starts tattooing that into your body.

Me: So it’s a real tattoo parlor?

Millie: uh, yeah …

Millie: what did that sign say? ….where we headed to?  … what highway is this? I’m gonna have to probably stop driving at night .. I can see the roads fine I just can’t see what the signs say …

Millie: Anyways .. that’s some of the history of the Hollands and Russell family. And every one of these … like Glenn Russell’s son, Kevin and Kathy’s son Andrew had perfect pitch and perfect arm for baseball … and the Channel 3 used to follow Andrew around when he was 5 years old cause he’d make constant home-runs and I thought .. look at that .. that’s that arm inherited all the way through that Russell side .. but I believe we had it also on the Holland side because those guys were great in sports… and I got in there and played basketball and I was captain in there … and I played softball and I was co-captain in there … so we just had that sports ball thing … 

Me: I thought  you were a cheerleader?

Millie: I was a cheerleader in Jr High .. I made the first year in college on the basketball team …

Me: What about the roller derby?

Millie: My sisters were in that … they won awards in that … but it wasn’t in roller derby it was a kind of skate dance team that went around .. and you know Glenda doesn’t remember that … she thought it was me and Kathy … I was real hurt because I didn’t make it … and she didn’t remember it … but I could skate .. I could do some stuff in skating.
